What to do when you go over free 15GB from Gmail or Google Drive

As of 2019, Google photos offers unlimited storage for upto 16 Mega Pixel photos and 1080p HD videos. A normal user won’t need higher spec photos or videos unless you are into movie or banner production industry. 16MP is more than enough for 2 feet long poster Print 🙂

Google drive offers unlimited storage for Google docs, Google sheets and WhatsApp Backups etc..

It’s always the attachments in old emails in Gmail which takes 15gb and more space.

You have 3 options.

1) Use Gmail search filters to find old emails with big attachments and delete them. You can use combinations of commands, so if, for example, you want to delete old mails with attachments that are more than 1MB in size, then type the following into search: has:attachment larger:1M older_than:1y > press enter, then see the list, and select items > delete mails.

2) create another free Gmail account and forward your emails with big attachment to that Gmail account or its gdrive and then delete them from your sent folder

3) Buy huge Google one family cloud storage for the cost of 1.5 sandwich per month and store all your softwares, zips, ebooks, word docs and mp3 and videos too there. (I went for 1st and 3rd option both) 👍👍. You can even share this Google Cloud storage with 4-5 more family members.

Google One Plans: I am on £2.49 PCM for 200gb plan but I think for most people £1.49 PCM for 100gb is more than enough. This will be on top of free 15GB Google provides to everyone. We can’t get a decent sandwich in London in that price 😄. I 😘 Google. I have already sold my local NAS drives, USB connected HDD on ebay and have earned 5-8 yrs of Google paid storage 😀

Don’t use local hard disks for backups. Local HDD can crash anyday. Mine crashed once and since that day I put everything on Cloud 🌥. Plus local HDD content one can’t access easily from anywhere, but cloud content you can.
