From UK to India – following steps needed to be followed:
1) Covid test from boots or authorized medical centre which can issue “fit to fly” certificate @ roughly £80-£90/person and sample taken within 72 hours of flight. You can get RT-PCR done at heathrow/gatwick airports itself if you live close to airport. Report comes via email within 12-24hrs max. Book here https://www.heathrow.com/at-the-airport/fly-safe/covid-19-test for heathrow airprort or local to your town tests. Boots UK phramacy is also offering tests at £89. UK NHS doesn’t issue travel certificates so you need to book private test labs tests from boots UK website or https://www.heathrow.com/at-the-airport/fly-safe/covid-19-test
Note: don’t go for Home test kits as you need to post the sample and it takes min 72hrs for the results to come back so its useless for your flight. Get the sample taken at a test centre and let them send it for testing within 1-2 hrs.
2) Pre Fill Air India Air Suvidha form and take print out. https://www.newdelhiairport.in/airsuvidha/apho-registration
3) Don’t book RT PCR test at delhi/mumbai airport online. Reach delhi/mumbai and pay only INR 800 for that covid test at airport.

5) Submit or show your forms/letters and certificate of negative-test
6) And you now have to purchase another covid test done at airport for Rs 800/person.
7) They let you go in 1-2 hours and email your covid results in email. If negative then you quarantine for 14 days at home. If positive and its UK mutation strain, they sometimes take you to govt facility or if not UK strain then they ask you to quarantine for 14 days at home.
8) Travel outside airport to your destination – some destinations have imposed curfew so please carry your e-ticket/boarding pass and Uk Airport RT PCR test report for cross state border controls (like uttrakhand) or curfew police.
9) 14 days Quarantine everywhere in India unless you get tested -ve on 7th day test in India. Authorities most likely will call you almost every day to check your well being. You are allowed to travel via curfew areas like delhi/mumbai if you carry e-tcket and boarding pass.. but after reaching your destination address.. state authorities decide what to do with your address house. in UP and Punjab they still insist to put “home Quarrantine ” board outside your house.. so its up to you to accept that or rejec that (if you are sharing destination house with other people who dont want that board,, like a guest house).. etc
