New COVID strains detected in India
New Delhi: All India Institute of Medical Sciences Director, Dr Randeep Guleria on Saturday said that India’s fight against coronavirus may get tougher, with the latest challenge of new COVID strains emerging across the country. He warned people that the new variants of SARS-CoV-2, being found in the country can cause reinfections even in people who have developed antibodies to the virus.
Experts have found that a new coronavirus mutant strain has been detected in Amravati, Yavatmal, and Aloka, all in the Vidarbha region in the eastern part of Maharashtra.

Experts who made the observation, Dr Shashank Joshi and Director of Medical Education & Research Dr T.P. Lahane, both renowned medicos, are part of The Maharashtra Covid Task Force.
Other states such as Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, and Punjab have been witnessing a spike in COVID cases.
Mumbai: “Avoid overcrowding. Use face masks, follow all protocols while in public events, gatherings, weddings, etc….It is up to you. Otherwise, be prepared for another lockdown,” said CM Uddhav Thackeray.

Lockdown in Mumbai?
As Mumbai is still witnessing a steep rise in COVID-19 cases, the talk of another lockdown is gaining momentum. During his Tuesday’s meeting, the Maharashtra Chief Minister had said: “People have become carefree. It is for the people to decide if they want a lockdown or want to continue living with the small restrictions like now.”
